25 YEARS INSOMNIO! Anniversary Concert @ TivoliVredenburg

Insomnio bestaat 25 jaar, dus het is tijd voor een feestje! Het ensemble begon 25 jaar geleden met een vraag: ‘¿Qué es el insomnio?’, de titel van een gedicht van Jorge Luis Borges en de slogan van het ensemble in hun beginjaren. Terwijl de muzikanten het begrip ‘Insomnio’ steeds opnieuw proberen uit te vinden, keert de titel terug als thema van het festival en het jubileumconcert, dat een showcase wordt van verleden, heden en toekomst van het ensemble.

Verwacht composities waarvan de inkt net droog is – zoals ‘Chromphores’ van Roderik de Man – nog nat is – zoals de nieuwe compositie van Vivan en Ketan Bhatti die vanavond in première gaat – en muziek die we op dat moment pas gaan schilderen. Na een inspirerend en aanstekelijk programma proosten we op het jubileum van Insomnio. Cloud Nine transformeert tot feestlocatie en we vieren samen de ‘Nieuwe muziek’ waarvan Insomnio al 25 jaar een fervent voorvechter van was en zal blijven.

INSOMNIO will celebrate its 25th anniversary, so it’s time for a party! An evening full of new music, new collaborations and the presentation of future plans. The ensemble began with a question 25 years ago: "¿Qué es el insomnio?", the title of a poem by Jorge Luis Borges and the slogan of the ensemble in their early years. While the musicians continuously try to reinvent INSOMNIO, the title returns as the theme for this anniversary concert, which will be a showcase of the past, present and future of INSOMNIO. 

Expect compositions whose ink just dried - like Roderik de Man’s “Chromphores”- , is still wet - like the new composition by Vivan and Ketan Bhatti which will go in premiere this evening - , and music which we will paint that moment.

Finally join us in a toast to INSOMNIO’s anniversary after an inspiring and infectious program. Cloud Nine will transform into a party venue and we’ll celebrate “New music” of which INSOMNIO has been and is an ardent champion together.
